WINNERS – Blue Jays
LOSERS – the people of Miami get NO comittment from their Marlins and they’re stuck PAYING for a TACKY stadium and a team with fruity uniforms. It’s an OUTRAGE!
Before this season the Miami Marlins looked like contenders. They signed Joses Reyes, Mark Buehrle, built a new stadium, and they had some ugly rainbow-colored uniforms. Earlier this year they traded one of their stars, Hanley Ramirez, which showed early signs of giving up. Now they basically traded their whole team in this block buster deal with the Blue Jays. What were they thinking?? They were thinking – “We got some serious MONEY problems – Let’s dump our payroll!”
Blue Jays Aquire
- Jose Reyes
- Mark Buehrle
- Josh Johnson
- Emilio Bonifacio
- John Buck
- cash
Marlins Get
- Yunel Escobar
- Adeiny Hechavarria
- Henderson Alvarez
- Jeff Mathis
- 3 minor leaguers
Wow look at that! The Blue Jays just put themselves into contention. They could easily make a 2013 play off push with these players. The Marlins just traded away the heart of their team. Their best pitching and offense is gone. One plus for the Marlins is that around 160 million dollars will be pulled from their payroll. Other than that they just threw themselves out of contention. Did I mention they are still stuck with those ugly uniforms?
Congrats to the Blue Jays for making a “game changing” trade!! Who wouldn’t go after this deal with this caliber of talent?
If the city hadn’t ponied up so much for the new stadium this wouldn’t be a bad “baseball move”. They loaded up on prospects and unloaded some back-loaded contracts & a guy who is about to get REALLY pricey.
But to do this after essentially getting the taxpayers to fork over 450+ million to subsidize the new ballpark is disgusting.
