Manager Alvin Dark jokingly said something about pitcher Gaylord Perry in 1963, “There would be a man on the moon before Gaylord Perry would hit a home run.” Well, he was right! On July 20, 1969, Gaylord Perry hit a homerun in the third inning off of Dodgers’ pitcher Claude Osteen. After Neil Armstrong landed on the moon! What a coincidence! This was just a cool little tidbit for today.
