Melky Cabrera, left fielder for the San Francisco Giants who was suspended for 50 games -due to elevated Testosterone levels, could sadly win the NL Batting Title.
The cutoff for plate appearances for this batting title is 502
Melky has 501 plate appearances resulting in a batting average of .346
Even thought he is 1 off of the cutoff there is a little sneaky rule. The MLB will just add another at bat which would be 0 for 1. This brings his average from .346 well to a……. .346. So this means he really might win it. How sad would that be, seeing a cheater win a title that he doesn’t deserve and by winning by “manipulating” the stats. That’s C.R.A.P. !!! – Cheaters Ruin All Pride
It was sad to hear that All-Star MVP Melky Cabrera will be suspended for 50 games do to a high amount Testosterone. I was amazed to hear this. I didn’t see this coming. It’s very disappointing to see players cheating. At least he admitted it. “My positive test was the result of my use of a substance I should not have
used,” Cabrera said “I accept my suspension under the Joint Drug Program and I will try to move on with
my life. I am deeply sorry for my mistake and I apologize to my teammates, to
the San Francisco Giants organization, and to the fans for letting them down.” I start to question the raw ability of many players, obviously they are good athletes, but just how good would they do without illegal substances. This was Melky’s best year of his career and now many people, including myself will no longer be a fan of his and question is he that good of a player?
So, how will this affect the Giants playoff run? I say MAJORLY! He was batting .346 11 home runs 60 RBI. This is going to be a giant loss for the Giants. He is one of their top run producers. San Francisco is currently 1 game back from first place and .5 games back in the Wild Card. Melky’s replacement is really going to have to step up.
